KMS Driving School offers training in Light Rigid (LR), Medium Rigid (MR) and Heavy Rigid (HR) trucks throughout Brisbane with training areas at Archerfield (MR), Stafford (MR), Eagle Farm (MR & HR) and Wynnum (MR). We use Queensland Transport customer service centers at Wynnum, Cleveland, Zillmere, Redcliffe and Strathpine.

KMS Driving School’s HR truck has an eight speed Roadranger gear box not an eighteen speed which other driving school’s use. The eight speed box allows for faster training, saving you $$$$, but still allows the necessary experience in a Roadranger gear box. Passing your practical driving test in this vehicle will result in receiving an open HR license thus permitting you to drive all gear boxes with no restrictions. We also offer students the opportunity to drive the HR tipper truck in a working application. This can be discussed with your instructor.

Truck Driving SchoolKMS Driving School uses an Isuzu FSR 500 for MR training. This truck is fitted with a six speed Synchromesh gear box. With the truck being a little over eight meters long and 3.6 meters high, you are assured of learning in a vehicle much like other common MR trucks thus giving you a true feel for the vehicle.

My name is Ken Stanaway I’m the proprietor of KMS Driving School.

I started training back in 1995 and during that time have seen a lot of changes throughout the industry, like the introduction of the current practical driving test Q SAFE. Naturally there have also been some changes in road rules such as the reduction of the speed limit in local built up areas from 60 to 50 km/h.

Changes in vehicle technology has also had an impact on training new drivers with driver trainers having to constantly change their techniques to align with such advances.

My goal as a driver trainer is to provide my students with a level of service no other driving school can offer. Our trucks are always clean and tidy and are kept at a very high level of sevice which means for you, our client, achieving your licence through KMS Driving School is a pleasurable experience.
